Features and Benefits of Women's Shoes for Bunions
So just what do you need to look for to find the perfect pair of women’s shoes for bunions?
Let’s unpack a few key features of the best women’s tennis shoes for bunions: wide toe boxes, flexible uppers, cushion, and arch support.
Wide toe box: Roomy toe boxes ensure that your toes and metatarsals can lay naturally flat and take up the space they need. Shoes with too-narrow toe boxes is a leading cause of the development or worsening of bunions.
Flexible upper: Say goodbye to stiff shoes with bunions! Footwear that offer some flexible give—especially in the toe box—can help keep bunions happy and healthy.
Cushion: Since bunions are a misaligned joint, it’s important to protect them. Shoes with plenty of shock-absorbing cushion help protect that bony protrusion to help reduce pain while walking.
Arch support: Look for a shoe with plenty of arch support to help alleviate pressure on all areas of your foot.

Common Causes of Bunions in Women
Bunions are 10 times more common in women than in men.
Though the reason for this is not completely understood, some researchers have hypothesized that it is worsened by the too-tight footwear (think pointy flats or high heels) that women often wear.
Bunions are often inherited genetically, though they can become worse through muscular imbalances or consistently wearing ill-fitting footwear.
Effective Ways To Reduce and Treat Bunions
Wearing supportive footwear with plenty of space in the toe box is one of the best ways to help reduce painful symptoms of bunions and help them from getting worse.
Many bunion sufferers will try to keep wearing shoes that hurt them, thinking that is “just the way it is.”
But it doesn’t have to be! With the right blend of a wide toe box, flexible uppers, and avoiding ill-fitting and painful footwear, you can go a long way to help reduce bunion pain and help keep them from getting worse over time.

Comfortable!
I'm 36 years old and have heel pain and bunions. I'm very happy with the QUANTUMs. They have helped with the heel pain and are comfortable for my bunions. They are very roomy in the toe area. Most shoes rub my bunions, but not these! I plan on trying other styles soon."

8W with Bunions
I work in a postal plant on concrete floors carrying and moving 10 to 70 pounds on mail continuously for 8 hours per day minimum. My feet, left knee and lower back hurts badly. I bought KURU QUANTUM 8w for it's shock absorption, feet pain and knee pain. One week into wearing these shoes, no more feet pain, knee doesn't hurt much and hardly no back pain. I wore these shoes at work the first day I got them all day without any foot pain. Good shoes. I will purchase more."
