Tinfoil (now with network install) (2)

Surprisingly there's no main Tinfoil thread here.

As most of you already know Tinfoil is a homebrew app that can install NSP files or extracted games to your Switch.
It's developed by Adubbz and source can be found here:
https://github.com/Adubbz/Tinfoil

According to the readme.md it seems like the network install feature is finally implemented now.
I haven't tried it yet but that might be a workaround for all FAT32 users out there trying to install NSP files that are bigger than 4 GB.

Installation

  1. Install FS sig patches, there are two ways of doing this:
    • Using the latest hekate with the option kip1patch=nosigchk in hekate_ipl.ini.
    • Using ReiNX
  2. Place the tinfoil nro in the "switch" folder on your sd card, and run using the homebrew menu.

Download

Courtesy of LavaTech, builds are made automatically for each commit at: https://bsnx.lavatech.top/tinfoil/

When ready, full releases will be located at: https://github.com/Adubbz/Tinfoil/releases/latest

Usage

  1. Place NSPs in /tinfoil/nsp or extracted NSPs in /tinfoil/extracted.
  2. You can use NX-Shell to delete the files after you installed them.
  3. Launch Tinfoil via the homebrew menu and install your NSPs.

Network install instructions

  1. Download and install Python 3.6.6 from https://www.python.org/downloads/
  2. Download remote_install_pc.py from https://github.com/Adubbz/Tinfoil/blob/master/tools/remote_install_pc.py by right clicking on Raw and clicking "Save link as..."
  3. Open the Network Install menu in Tinfoil
  4. Run remote_install_pc.py on your PC on the same network as your Switch with python remote_install_pc.py <switch ip> <nsp directory>, or alternatively with no arguments for interactive mode.
  5. ???
  6. Profit

seems to be pretty useless.
why not just using tinfoils standard installation function instead?
you still need to have the nsp/extracted nsp on your SD Card.

Network install installs titles from nsps stored on a computer. No need to move them to the SD card.
This will come in handy for users sticking to fat32 for stable homebrew.

I don't care for the speed if it means my SD won't get corrupted.
As someone who uses RetroNX a lot I'll stick to FAT32, even I I buy a 400 GB card.

I'd rather be able to install titles larger than 4GB on fat32 at a snail's pace than not at all. Tinfoil (now with network install) (27)

Unstable may have been the wrong word to use. I was mainly referring to retroNX, which mentions that exfat can lead to corruption of files on the SD.
The way they've worded the issues with exfat make me assume it extends to other homebrew as well.
Sorry for the confusion.
