ITINERARY

Day 1: The Villages ~ Alpine Helen, Georgia ~ Oktoberfest Festivities

7:00 am- Depart The Villages - 761 Hoopfer Way, Lady Lake, FL 32159.

You will turn off of Rolling Acres Road by the Daily Sun production facility (you will see a Workman Transportation sign) You may leave your car here.

Travel aboard a deluxe highway motorcoach to the charming Bavarian town of Helen, Georgia.

We will stop periodically for restroom/meal breaks.

Later this afternoon we journey into the lovely Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia to the Alpine village of Helen for a memorable three-night stay. Located along the Chattahoochee River, Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with Bavarian-stye buildings, cobblestone alleys, old-world towers, and gingerbread trim. For over 50 years Helen’s Oktoberfest celebrations have provided visitors the opportunity to enjoy traditional Bavarian music, dancing, and food in the city’s Riverside Festhalle. This will be our opening venue for the trip. Enjoy a delightful three-night stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Helen, Georgia.

Day 2: Alpine Helen Sights ~ Helen at Leisure ~ Hardman Farm ~ Oktoberfest Fun

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Later this morning we embark on a guided tour of the Helen area. Highlights include Nora Mill Granary and The Antique Mall, Bavarian Clock Shop, Unicoi Lake and Stovall Mill Bridge. Following our tour enjoy free time for lunch and shopping in the quaint downtown area. Notable German eateries and beer gardens offer delicious pastries, Reuben sandwiches, spaetzle, goulash and wursts. Numerous specialty and import shops offer unique hand-blown glass gifts, antiques and collectibles, gourmet foods and fine jewelry. This afternoon we visit Hardman Farm, a beautiful 1870 preserved estate. This evening we gather for dinner at a local restaurant and then return to the Festhalle for another evening of Oktoberfest fun.

Day 3: Dahlonega ~ Gold Museum ~ Crisson Mine ~ Winery ~ Oktoberfest Activities

Breakfast is included at the hotel. This morning we embark on a scenic excursion to the charming town of Dahlonega, Georgia. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Dahlonega offers expansive mountain vistas among delightful cafes and eateries and unique boutiques and art galleries. Enjoy a stop at Dahlonega Gold Museum which depicts the history of our nation’s first major gold rush in 1829. Ample free time for lunch and shopping will be allotted to explore the quaint town square. Later this afternoon we visit Crisson Gold Mine with an opportunity to pan for gold. Stop at a local winery for tasting and shopping on our way back to Helen. Arrive back in Helen for our final evening of Oktoberfest festivities.

Day 4: Alpine Helen ~ Journey Home

After breakfast we begin our journey home. Rest and meal stops will be made periodically as we travel back to The Villages.

Workman Transportation uses their own deluxe motor coaches. They are driven by drivers certified and licensed for motor coach transportation. Our motor coaches are air conditioned, equipped with Wi-Fi, video monitors, on-board restroom, and reclining seats.

Our hosts are experienced and will help make your trip enjoyable. They will give you lots of information along the way to make the traveling time fun and interesting. We will strive to keep you comfortable by having rest stops every two to two and 1/2 hours in the schedule.

All tours require some walking and the ability to embark/disembark a motor-coach without assistance. Advance notice is required for special dietary requests and handicap seating.
