directions

• In a 1 gal plastic food bag place shrimp and olive oil, toss to coat, sprinkle enough rub to coat the shrimp.
• The bag should look dark red.
• Refrigerate for 1-4 hrs, the longer you wait the hotter they'll be.
• Light the grill and while it's heating place shrimp on skewers.
• When coals are very hot, clean the area that the shrimp will be on and rub with a bit of canola oil on a rag (use a mitt please).
• Immediately place shrimp on greased grill for 2-3 minutes, turn and cook an additional 2-3 minutes.
• Remove from skewers and serve hot.
• No dipping sauce required.
• This rub works well on chicken wings too!

1. This is AWESOME!!! Just got a new grill and wanted the right recipe to celebrate and break it in. Only thing we did different is to grill them in a basket instead of on skewers. The adults loved them and even the kids loved them. Thank you so much for sharing!!!! Update: I used this on wild caught Salmon and WOW it was fantastic on that too!

2. Simple and delicious. I picked up shrimp that had already had the shells removed so was trying to find a well-rated recipe that would work without drying them out. This simple take did the trick. The shrimp turned out plump, juicy and delish.

My Italian seasoning blend had salt in it -- plus I had garlic salt so I might cut back on the sodium a little next time but otherwise...SOLD! You shared a winner Steve_G. Thanks!

4. Excellent! Our middle daughter has been broadening her horizons and agreed to try shrimp so I decided to make this recipe. It had a little zing to it, not very spicy. The kids all liked it but said it was spicy. What do they know? ;o) Husband and I thought it was excellent and ate far too many. Thanks for the recipe!

5. Steve this rub is amazing!! I only had a pound of medium shrimp so I halved the recipe and only used half of that on the shrimp. It was delicious. I did find it alittle salty from the garlic salt though. Then I wanted to do chicken last night and decided to do the same technique. I loved it with the chicken! I had 2 small breasts and 6 chicken legs. Marinated them for about 2 hrs. I am going to make a batch of this up and keep it in a sealed container. I think I will omit the garlic salt. For those of you asking about where the spicy flavor was. Paprika comes in 2 flavors, sweet and smoky. If you use the smokey flavored one it isn't so much as spicy as it gives it a smooth smokey kinda heat to dishes. Not sure which one Steve used but I used the regular sweet that you readily find. The smokey one is alittle harder to find in the regular grocery store. Awesome rub that I will be using alot!

Tweaks

1. These were fantastic! I halved the amount of spices because most reviews said they only used half - and used dried cilantro instead of the Italian seasoning (personal preference). Also halved the amount of sugar for personal preference. Turned out great! This will probablty be my go-to grilled shrimp recipe.

2. Wow we thought these were spicey. I followed the recipe as written other then I used canola oil instead of olive oil as that is all I had. I marinated them for about three hours. I dumped them all into a pan and cooked like that. They were a bit spicey for my family. I washed some of the rub off and then we really enjoyed them. They were very easy to make.

3. Just to add a little more depth, I opted to use palm sugar instead of the brown sugar, and fresh garlic instead of the garlic powder. Other than thatm followed everything to a T, and we got a delicious dish for dinner. Thank you yet again for another wonderful posting.
