We like the elegant shape and it especially looks nice with a sparkling drink since you can see the bubbles clearly.

Consumer testers gave this coupe high marks for its nice looking design and being comfortable to hold. Our test kitchen recipe editor, Susan Choung, commented the martini tasted more balanced in this glass than other ones. The wide base makes it feel stable and not like it's going to topple over, though one panelist did say it feels slightly bottom heavy. Coupe glasses can get pretty pricey, especially if you're buying a lot of them, which is why we like this Ikea glass that's around $6 per glass. Testers liked the design and found it comfortable to hold. One taster even found the champagne bubbles more intense in this glass which is good for someone who likes an extra fizzy drink.

The glass feels thick and sturdy to hold so you don't have to worry about being extra gentle with it. It's dishwasher-safe and holds up well in washing. However, one of the glasses had a small defect with a bump on the rim, but it wasn't too noticeable.

Cons
  • 8 Best Coupe Glasses, According to Our Testing (25)Hand wash

It's hard to miss the Fiore Coupe glass with its beautiful etched crystal which is cut by hand. The pattern is reminiscent of flower leaves, giving it a vintage yet modern look. This coupe is the largest capacity glass on this list, holding 12 ounces, so it's great for extra large drinks with less refilling required. The large size makes it versatile but the downside is that the glass feels heavy and some testers commented that they wish it was more delicate.

According to the brand, the crystal is lead-free. Unfortunately, it's hand wash so you won't be able to put it in the dishwasher, but we found the extra heft makes it feel sturdy while hand washing and not like it's going to break.

Cons
  • 8 Best Coupe Glasses, According to Our Testing (30)Does not feel as sturdy

This glass was one of our favorite coupes for drinking martinis, with one tester saying it's "nice to sip from." Not only is it great for martinis but other drinks as well, with its large mouth opening. One tester commented that she could even see a margarita being served in this glass.

The large opening makes it easier to drink from but we found you have to take more care when walking around with a filled glass because it sloshes around more, making it feel less sturdy. Consumer testers also raved about the very chic design, giving it high marks for aesthetics. Clean up is a breeze since these glasses are dishwasher-safe. Choose from purchasing individual glasses, a set of four or eight martini glasses.

Bigger is not always better, especially in the case of this 5.5-ounce coupe glass. Our experts appreciate the small but substantial glass for those who like to make smaller co*cktails or raise a glass for a quick toast. It's also one of the less expensive glasses on this list. One of our pros noted they appreciated that their sparkling wine wasn't too foamy in this glass. Our test kitchen expert said this glass concentrated the fruit aromas more.

This coupe glass was a top scorer, with testers giving it high scores for being comfortable to hold and drink from. They also rated it highly for the design. Sometimes a short stem makes a glass harder to hold, but one consumer tester said that surprisingly they liked the short stem. One thing testers did not like is the thicker rim. The Riedel Veritas Coupe glass was a favorite among our experts and consumer testers; everyone raved about how much they loved this coupe glass. It caught everyone's eye immediately with its sleek and delicate design. On top of looking stunning, multiple testers stated the glass made their drink taste better, whether it was champagne or a martini, making comments such as "tastes sweet in a good way," "more flavorful," and "brings out a nice aroma and helps capture the bouquet." We also found it comfortable to hold and multiple testers commented on how they loved the thin rim.

The glass looks crystal clear, enhancing the look of any beverage. It's dishwasher-safe and did not crack in our wash test. However, at some point during testing, one of the glasses developed a slight crack. The thinness of the glass makes it more fragile, so you'll have to be extra careful when handling these glasses.

This is one of the smaller glasses on the list, holding seven ounces of liquid and standing at five inches tall. What to look for when shopping for the best coupe glasses

8 Best Coupe Glasses, According to Our Testing (54)

✔️ Capacity and size: Choose the size and capacity based on the drinks that it will be used for. A larger glass is better for those who want to enjoy drinks with more liquid or add fun garnishes. Those who like their drinks ice cold may prefer a smaller glass so the drink is not sitting around too long and gets warm. Also, keep in mind the size of the mouth opening and height. Glasses with larger openings may slosh around more easily and spill. Coupe glasses with longer stems may look more elegant, but they may tip over more easily or feel extra delicate.

✔️ Shape: The beauty of coupe glasses is that they come in all different shapes and sizes so they can hold a variety of drinks, making them versatile. Those who strictly use these for champagne may want to choose a glass with a smaller mouth, which helps keep the bubbles from dissipating. Choung says that coupes are a good option if you like your champagne less bubbly and the large surface area on top helps you smell the aroma more. We also found that glasses with a more substantial stem and rim feel more sturdy, but testers did not enjoy drinking from a glass with a thicker rim.

✔️ Dishwasher-safe: Many of the coupe glasses we tested were dishwasher-safe. However, some were hand wash only. Consider if you would rather be able to throw the glass in the dishwasher or hand wash it. Also, very thin glasses may require more care to hand wash or when being put in the dishwasher.

✔️ Lead-free crystal: You may come across some brands labeling their crystal glasses lead-free. According to some manufacturers, lead-free crystal is better than those with lead because it’s more durable, lighter weight, not as vulnerable to heat and resists dulling in the dishwasher. Also, there’s concern about potential lead exposure from leaded crystal leaching into drinks, which is something to be aware of.

What are coupe glasses best for?

8 Best Coupe Glasses, According to Our Testing (55)

Coupe glasses are best for drinks that don't require ice such as champagne, martinis and other iceless co*cktails. The large open mouth also makes them great for drinks where you want to smell the aroma more, such as sparkling wine. Keep in mind that the bubbles dissipate faster in a wider mouth glass which may not be good for someone who likes a bubbly drink.

The best size really depends on the drinks being served in the coupe glass. Smaller drinks such as martinis are better in a smaller glass so they retain their icy temperature while drinking. A moderate or large size coupe allows for more versatility in what drinks can be served and won't risk sloshing outside of the cup since they won't be filled to the brim.
