How do I check my NJ TRANSIT bus time? ›

MyBus NOW&®

Now you can find out when the next bus is arriving. Visit njtransit.com/mybusnow or text the bus stop ID number to mybus (69287), or call 973-275-5555 and follow the automated prompts and you'll get real time* information about the status of your bus.

Customers who prefer to use cash or don't have a debit or credit card can now use all of the app's features by loading cash into their MyTransit Wallet to purchase NJ TRANSIT tickets.

Fare Information

Fares on both Academy and NJ TRANSIT buses are based on a zone system. This means that the fare increases when crossing the zone boundaries. Fares and zones are published in bus schedules, and are available at Academybus.com or NJTRANSIT.com, on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app, or by calling (973)275-5555.

Most routes have two time checks, which mark a point the bus must be at, at a certain time. Our schedule operates on departure times, so if a bus gets to a time check early then it cannot leave until the time check is met.

If you're a senior citizen who is 62 years of age or older (65 years of age for travel to/from Metro-North stations) or a person with a disability, you're eligible to apply to NJ TRANSIT's Reduced Fare Program! As a member of our program, you can save 50 percent on a regular one-way ticket.

Eating and drinking is permitted aboard trains, but not aboard buses or light rail vehicles. If you choose to eat or drink aboard the train, please be considerate of your fellow passengers and remember to take all trash with you when you disembark. Hours of operation vary by route, but depending on your stop, you can usually catch buses in Dublin as early as 5am and as late as 12am.

Select Bus Service (SBS) buses, which make fewer stops, travel on priority routes, and board at all doors. Limited (LTD) buses, which look like local buses but make fewer stops. Look for "LTD" on the front of the bus, and purple signage at bus stops. Express buses, which look like coach buses and run between boroughs.
